MeT Predicts Hot, Humid Weather With Thunderstorms In J&K

Flash Flood Warning Issued As J&K Braces For More Rain

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir received significant rainfall over the past 24 hours, with Jammu district recording the highest at 88.7 mm, the Meteorological Department said on Wednesday.

According to MeT data, as per GNS, Samba received 85 mm, Kathua 76.6 mm, Katra 48 mm and Udhampur 32.2 mm of rainfall respectively during the last 24 hours.

The MeT Centre Srinagar has forecast generally hot and humid weather for J&K from August 19 to 22, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at scattered to many places. Brief intense heavy showers are also likely at a few districts during early morning and afternoon hours.

From August 23 to 27, the weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid with brief spells of rain and thundershowers at scattered places towards early morning and afternoon hours.

The department has issued an advisory warning that brief intense heavy showers at localized areas may generate flash floods, mudslides and landslides.

Farmers have been advised to continue with harvesting and other farm operations.(GNS)
