In the annals of Jammu and Kashmir’s development, the year 2026 will be etched in gold for its youth-centric vision, which promises to usher in an era of new opportunities and prosperity for the state.
And while J&K boasts of its natural splendor, it is fast becoming a land of opportunities as the administration strives to give a fillip to economic growth and development.
The government’s move to fast track recruitment to 23,000 government jobs, plus the Mission Yuva, is indeed heartening.
First and foremost, this move will give a much-needed boost to the youth who have been waiting in line to contribute to the development of the country.
Apart from providing employment, fast-tracking will also give a fillip to the morale of the youth and motivate them.
Moreover, this will enhance productivity in the government machinery.
But what stands out in this announcement is that the government realizes that government jobs alone cannot provide an enduring solution to the problem of unemployment.
In addition to creating jobs in the public sector, the administration has taken another bold step by announcing Mission Yuva.
This mission will create enterprise development units to promote entrepreneurship and self-employment in the state.
This, in turn, will lead to the creation of employment opportunities in diverse fields.
This move will have a multiplier effect on the state’s economy as it will create jobs in allied industries and boost the overall economic growth of the state.
In addition, setting up these units will provide an impetus to the digital, handloom, agro-food processing, and other industries, reducing the brain-drain from the state.
The government’s vision for creating alternate employment avenues while also announcing large-scale recruitments will serve as a safety net for the youth of J&K.
This inclusive approach will ensure that no youngster is left behind.
By focussing on both government jobs and private enterprise, the government has taken a holistic approach to address the issue of unemployment in the state.
Thus, by giving the youth a choice between government employment and private enterprises, the government has created a win-win situation for the people as well as the economy.
It will also encourage the entrepreneurial instincts of the youth and inspire them to take to self-employment.
It will also ensure that talented and skilled individuals do not have to look elsewhere for jobs as the government is determined to give them due opportunities to prove their mettle.
As J&K moves to plug the unemployment window, it will serve as a model for other states in the Union too.
