New Delhi, Aug 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tribute to those affected by the Partition of India, saying their resilience and determination in rebuilding their lives remain a powerful example of the strength of the human spirit.
Marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, the Prime Minister said the events of 1947 tore apart countless lives, uprooted families and caused immense suffering, but also produced stories of courage and perseverance.
In a message shared on social media, Modi said people who survived the upheaval overcame adversity, rebuilt their lives from scratch and made invaluable contributions to the nation’s development.
“Their life journeys remind us of the strength of the human spirit,” he said, expressing hope that the occasion would deepen the country’s commitment to harmony, brotherhood and national unity.
The Prime Minister said the nation should remember all those who endured the horrors of Partition and honour their contribution to India’s progress.
He noted that the experiences of survivors demonstrated how determination and courage can help individuals overcome even the most difficult circumstances.
Modi called for further strengthening the spirit of goodwill and solidarity across the country and urged citizens to work collectively towards building a developed India.
Alongside his message, the Prime Minister shared a Sanskrit subhashitam emphasising the importance of hard work, enterprise and perseverance. He said progress in fields such as science, technology, arts, craftsmanship and innovation is driven by human effort rather than dependence on fate.
The Prime Minister stressed that individuals should pursue their goals with courage, diligence and sustained effort, asserting that human endeavour ultimately shapes destiny.
Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is observed annually to remember the suffering, displacement and loss experienced during the Partition of India in 1947 and to honour the resilience of those who rebuilt their lives in its aftermath.
