Srinagar, Aug 05: As part of the comprehensive security and disaster management preparedness for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026), Police in Ganderbal conducted a joint mock drill at Nilgrath, Sonamarg to assess the preparedness and operational readiness of all stakeholder agencies in responding to emergency situations. The exercise was conducted under the close coordination of Police Station Sonamarg, Special Operations Group Ganderbal, Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Fire & Emergency Services, Health Department, and other allied agencies associated with the Yatra.
The mock drill simulated an emergency scenario requiring a coordinated multi-agency response. The exercise focused on evaluating inter-agency coordination, communication systems, swift mobilisation of resources, rescue and evacuation procedures, casualty management, traffic regulation, and the overall effectiveness of emergency response mechanisms in accordance with the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
J&K Police remains steadfast in its commitment to maintain the highest standards of security and preparedness during SANJY-2026. Such joint exercises are being conducted regularly to strengthen institutional coordination, enhance emergency response capabilities, and ensure the safety, security, and well-being of all pilgrims and the general public.
