Jammu, July 30: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday attached immovable properties belonging to nine Pakistan/Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)-based terror operatives in Reasi and Ramban districts under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), in a major crackdown aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure supporting terrorism.
In Reasi, police attached properties of five Pakistan-based terror handlers during the investigation of FIR No. 70/2024 registered at Mahore Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the UAPA and the E&IMCO Act.
The attached properties belong to Alaf Din of Shajroo, Ghulam Mohammad alias Gamma of Shajroo, Mohammad Ashraf of Chakrass (Mulass), Shabir Ahmad of Chakrass (Jamsalan) and Bihar Din of Sildhar. Together, the attached holdings comprise several kanals and marlas of land in the Mahore area.
Police said investigations established that the accused had crossed into Pakistan for terrorist training and are currently operating from across the border, where they are allegedly involved in facilitating, coordinating and promoting militant activities.
According to police, the investigation revealed that the properties were liable to be alienated and the proceeds could be used to finance terrorist activities. Following approval from Police Headquarters, the assets were attached under the UAPA to prevent their misuse for terror financing.
The attachment proceedings were carried out by a team led by SDPO Mahore Parul Bhardwaj along with the SHO of Mahore Police Station in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and local witnesses.
In Ramban district, police attached properties of four Pakistan/PoK-settled terrorists in compliance with Police Headquarters Order No. 1874 of 2026 issued under Section 25 of the UAPA.
The four have been identified as Abdul Rashid alias Bashir of Zinhal, Banihal; Ghulam Rasool alias Badshah of Kundan Khari; Abdul Latief Naik alias Sajjad of Koot Khari, Banihal; and Mushtaq Ahmed of Chareel, Banihal.
The attached assets include 11 marlas of inherited land belonging to Abdul Rashid, 10 kanals of land with cultivation rights belonging to Ghulam Rasool, three kanals of inherited land belonging to Abdul Latief Naik and two marlas of land belonging to Mushtaq Ahmed, together measuring 13 kanals and 13 marlas.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Arun Gupta said the action was part of sustained efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem by denying terrorists and their associates the benefits of illegally held assets.
Police said the attachments form part of an intensified campaign to disrupt terror financing by targeting the financial resources of terrorists, their overground workers and supporters. Security agencies have also been acting against hawala networks, drug smuggling and other financial crimes that are believed to fund terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Under the UAPA, authorities are empowered to freeze, seize and attach properties linked to terrorism and terror financing as part of measures to dismantle militant support networks.
