Directs early completion of remaining NGT works
BUDGAM, JULY 29: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Wednesday reviewed progress of National Highway and other vital Road projects in District including NH444, Ring Road, NH701A, Bypass projects, Airport connectivity and other projects in Budgam.
Chairing a review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said these projects are of immense importance as they will significantly enhance connectivity for the local population as well as tourists visiting the district.
Highlighting the importance of a robust road network, he said improved infrastructure would facilitate seamless mobility, promote tourism, accelerate economic growth and generate employment opportunities across the district.
“These National Highway and other vital road projects will not only decongest traffic on existing roads passing through urban and rural areas but also improve connectivity, accessibility and provide better economic opportunities to people in Budgam,” the DC said.
Stressing the need for timely completion of projects, the Deputy Commissioner directed all executing agencies to expedite the pace of work while ensuring the highest standards of quality. He emphasized that all ongoing and approved projects should be completed within the stipulated timelines for the convenience and benefit of the general public.
The DC further instructed the concerned departments to maintain close coordination, promptly resolve bottlenecks and regularly monitor project progress to avoid unnecessary delays.
Moreover, Athar Aamir Khan also chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of works being executed under the directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) across the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the department-wise status of ongoing NGT-related works and directed all executing agencies to expedite the remaining projects and ensure their completion within the stipulated timelines.
He laid emphasis on the early completion of Grey Water Treatment works through the construction of grit chambers, sedimentation tanks, community soakage pits and leach pits at various locations along Doodhganga and Mamath Khul.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress of the development of a public park and Budgam View Point at the old dumping site near Mamath Bridge being executed by the Municipal Council Budgam. He instructed the concerned authorities to accelerate the pace of work and complete the project at the earliest.
