Shah praises security role; LG lauds sacrifice
New Delhi/Srinagar, July 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday led the nation in extending greetings to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on its Raising Day, lauding the force’s courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s internal security.
In a message on X, Prime Minister Modi said the CRPF had distinguished itself through its unwavering courage and commitment to duty. He said the force had consistently placed the nation first, whether in safeguarding internal security or serving citizens during challenging situations, and described its contribution to eliminating the menace of Maoism as particularly notable for bringing peace and progress to several regions.
Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated CRPF personnel and their families, saying the force had set countless milestones in ensuring India’s internal security since its inception. He said the CRPF had always lived up to the nation’s expectations, whether in combating Naxalism or protecting peace and progress, and paid tribute to personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also extended greetings to CRPF personnel and their families, describing the force as being at the forefront of safeguarding the nation’s internal security with exceptional courage, exemplary service and dedication. He saluted the selfless service and sacrifices of the force’s personnel for the motherland.
Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan said the nation saluted the CRPF for its valour, sacrifice and steadfast devotion to duty, while Union Minister Nitin Gadkari hailed the force as a symbol of indomitable courage, bravery and sacrifice.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the CRPF remained ever vigilant in protecting the nation’s internal security with discipline, courage and dedication, adding that the country was proud of its personnel for serving under the most challenging circumstances.
Observed annually on July 27, the CRPF Raising Day commemorates the establishment of the force in 1939. The CRPF, India’s largest Central Armed Police Force under the Ministry of Home Affairs, plays a key role in maintaining internal security, counter-insurgency operations, anti-Maoist missions, election security, riot control and assisting civil authorities during emergencies. The force was originally raised as the Crown Representative’s Police before being renamed the Central Reserve Police Force under the CRPF Act of 1949 following Independence.
