Kupwara, July 24: A 22-year-old man died after allegedly receiving an electric shock in the Dardpora area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Arif Ahmad Ganie (22), son of Mohammad Hamza Ganie, a resident of Haji Mohalla, Dardpora, Lolab.
According to officials, Arif Ahmad Ganie allegedly came into contact with a live electric line outside a residence in Haji Mohalla, resulting in a severe electric shock.
He was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Lolab, where doctors declared him brought dead. Officials said he is believed to have succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances leading to the electrocution. [KNT]
