Srinagar, July 17: Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Sanjay Singhal visited the Yatri Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar to review security arrangements and operational preparedness for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
The SSB chief was received by Commandant of 40 Battalion SSB Yetan Negi, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy and other senior officers of the police, security forces and civil administration.
During the visit, the Director General inspected the Yatra infrastructure, including the registration centre and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) counters at the transit camp. He reviewed the processing mechanism aimed at ensuring efficient pilgrim registration, movement tracking and security.

He also visited the Joint Police Control Room and the CRPF Command Post, where he assessed the integrated security arrangements, surveillance network and area domination measures put in place for the annual pilgrimage.
As part of his inspection, the DG visited the community kitchen (langar) and personally checked the quality, hygiene and nutritional standards of the food being served to pilgrims.
Later, he visited the Tactical Headquarters of the 40 Battalion SSB, where he interacted with officers and jawans. Addressing a Sainik Sammelan, Singhal commended the personnel for their professionalism, commitment and dedication in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the Yatra.
He also participated in a plantation drive within the SSB campus as part of an environmental initiative before holding an informal interaction with troops to understand their operational requirements and welfare concerns.
The Director General expressed satisfaction over the close coordination among various security agencies and appreciated the high level of alertness maintained by the personnel deployed for the pilgrimage. [KNT]
