Boosting transportation

In a positive news for the Northern Railway, the Jammu Division of the Northern Railway has made it possible to operate a new Goods Shed at the Pampore Railway Station.

Being the second freight center in Kashmir after Anantnag, this creates new logistical opportunities for the region by ensuring faster deliveries, low transport costs and significant contributions to sound trade and economy.

The establishment of the Pampore Goods Shed is a milestone in the Kashmir Valley.

According to history, the farmers and traders had to depend on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway for moving their products.

This highway is often blocked for the winter in severe climatic conditions. However, this new freight station allows booking in both directions.

The shed can handle almost half a rake of goods.

Accordingly, it is possible for farmers to send their famous fruits such as apples and saffron to the market in other regions of India.

In the same way, important construction as well as industrial goods can be delivered to the Valley.

The Pampore Goods Shed will redo business patterns in Pulwama and the neighboring areas.

Instead of transporting the bulk cargo on the road, they will be delivered by train, which reduces their time.

Also, it offers a dependable supply chain in any weather situation when roads are not open.

For the business elite and local entrepreneurs, this change has introduced new ways of reaching out to other markets and increasing profit.

The local economy will benefit greatly from the increase in economic activity and jobs. Indian Railways is effectively bringing Kashmir into the national logistics system. The current success indicates a strong commitment to the economic growth.

The proper agencies need to extend the project to the other areas as well to improve shipping.
