This week, Jammu and Kashmir has been buzzing with excitement after the government shared an inspiring story about nearly 75 girls who have put on their football boots to practice for the Under-14 Sub-Junior Girls Football Team.
It is not merely a selection trial, but a significant achievement for sports at grassroots level, besides being a breakthrough for the women sport in the area.
Seeing so many girls together surely is a delightful sight.
The inclusion of about 60 aspiring players from the Kashmir region of the state and 15 from Jammu signifies the convergence of talent inspired by joint aspirations.
This is, indeed, a golden opportunity for these girls to showcase their talent to secure a spot in the J&K team at the AIFF Sub-Junior Girls National Football Championship 2026.
The presence of these 75 girls proves evolution of the culture and aspirations of youth.
They are surely shattering the barriers and displaying great discipline paving way for the bright future of football in Jammu and Kashmir. Congratulations to the J&K Sports Council for actively supporting the initiative.
The accomplishment of discovering our best talents in accordance with their merit, technical skills, physical fitness and tactical acumen has been made possible by proper organization of the fair selection process carried out under the watchful eye of the technical committee comprised of qualified coaches and qualified football specialists.
The most important part of the Sports Council’s work is its considerable financial support of the athletes.
Having freed the sportsmen and their families from the financial burden of traveling, lodging and other worries related to participation in the national championships, the Council helped in overcoming one of the key problems faced by young athletes at the moment.
By solving problems connected with traveling, lodging and other expenses the Council ensures that the financial status of the sportswoman will not pose a threat to her success in sports.
The initiative allows to provide equality in sports and represents an ongoing effort to develop women’s sports.
