New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated the five-member Indian contingent for winning gold medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026 held in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
The Indian team comprised Kanishk Jain, Riddhesh Anant Bendale, Rishit Garg, Shresth Suraiya and Svarit Joshi, all of whom secured gold medals at the prestigious global competition.
Congratulating the students in a post on X, the Prime Minister said their achievement reflected the “limitless potential” of the country’s youth and their passion for science and research.
“An outstanding performance by our youngsters,” Modi said, adding that the feat was another example of the capabilities of India’s Yuva Shakti.
He also noted that Indian students have consistently delivered exceptional performances at the International Physics Olympiad over the past decade, highlighting the country’s growing strength in science education and international academic competitions.
