SRINAGAR, July 7: Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth on Tuesday called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during his visit to Srinagar, reviewing the prevailing security situation with the Lieutenant Governor and paying a courtesy call on the Chief Minister following his assumption of office.
General Seth, who took over as the Chief of the Army Staff on June 30, met the Lieutenant Governor at Lok Bhavan, where the two reviewed the prevailing security scenario in the region.
The Army Chief was accompanied by General Officer Commanding (GOC), Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General Balbir Singh.
Later, General Seth called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at his residence in Srinagar. The meeting was held as a courtesy call following the Army Chief’s appointment.
The Chief Minister congratulated General Seth on assuming charge as the Chief of the Army Staff and conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure in his new responsibilities.
Lieutenant General Balbir Singh and other senior Army officers were also present during the meeting with the Chief Minister.
