India stronger, safer under Modi Govt: Shah

New Delhi, June 17: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said India has emerged as a strong security power under the 12-year tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting measures such as cross-border military operations, the abrogation of Article 370, anti-Naxal campaigns and peace initiatives in the Northeast as key achievements of the government.

In a post on social media platform X, Shah said the Modi government had “rebuilt” India as a bastion of security that protects its citizens while responding decisively to threats.

The Home Minister cited the 2016 surgical strikes, the 2019 air strikes, Operation Sindoor, the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, efforts to eradicate Left-Wing Extremism and more than a dozen peace accords in the Northeast as examples of the government’s commitment to national security.

“In the 12 years of the Modi government, our nation has been rebuilt as a bastion of security that shields the citizens and unleashes destruction upon its enemies,” Shah said.

He asserted that India had demonstrated its resolve to safeguard national interests through military, political and security measures, adding that the country’s actions had drawn global attention.

Shah’s remarks came as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government marked 12 years in office, with party leaders highlighting achievements across governance, development and security sectors.

The Home Minister said initiatives ranging from cross-border counter-terror operations to internal security reforms and peace-building efforts in the Northeast reflected the government’s focus on strengthening national security and maintaining stability across the country.
