Addressing farming communities

The Agricultural Minister’s modernization effort and revitalization project of agricultural infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir offers a tremendous benefit to the local economy’s agricultural sector, due to the rural nature of these areas.

Through their proactive approach to governance, as well as addressing the individual concerns of all farmers on a case-by-case basis, their work will assist farmers with new agricultural infrastructure and will also assure that farmers receive new sources of water, not only for rice production, but also for vegetable production (as well as for other agricultural uses).

For many years now, the aging, outdated irrigation systems in several areas of northern Kashmir and other parts of the region have resulted in farmers being unable to be productive and, in turn, made it difficult for them to generate a profit.

Through the Agriculture Minister’s commitment to assess the current irrigation methods in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as modernize existing irrigation equipment, farmers will have access to new sources of water for their rice fields as well as their vegetable fields.

By providing farmers with upgraded infrastructure by repairing canal leaks and upgrading pumps, this project will provide farmers with access to water that never received irrigational supplies prior to this project being developed.

This development will also provide farmers with opportunities to invest in the development of their agricultural families by providing them with financial assistance through these improvements and a whole new long-term water supply.

Over time, these improvements will also reduce the dependence that farmers currently have in relation to rainfall as a source of irrigational water and will thus provide farmers with the confidence they need to expand production on their fields.

Providing electrical analysis to assist with providing full-time pump station coverage while also giving you the opportunity to work your agricultural pumps for peak seasons can create an avenue of sustainable agriculture through this electrical analysis and have the means for full-time work.

Using solar energy and existing lift irrigation systems allows us to put together a modern-day agricultural alternative.

By agreeing to address these long-standing issues, the government has demonstrated that they have a very good understanding of how agriculture plays a role in the economy of the Jammu & Kashmir area.

To help agricultural communities make full use of their rural economic potential, these projects will establish new infrastructure as well as help the government deliver on its commitment to create rural economic opportunities in the Jammu & Kashmir area.
