Police auctions seized vehicles

Srinagar, June 13: As part of its sustained campaign against narcotics trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan*, police in Sopore conducted a public auction of conveyances seized in various NDPS cases after obtaining requisite orders from the Courts under the provisions of Section 52A of the NDPS Act.

The auction proceedings were conducted at DPL Sopore under the supervision of the District Drug Disposal Committee, Sopore, in a transparent and lawful manner. A total of 15 bidders participated in the auction.

During the auction, Maruti WagonR bearing Registration No. JK05A-7505 was successfully auctioned for ₹35,000. In respect of the remaining conveyances, the reserve price could not be achieved and the same shall be put to re-auction through a fresh process as per the prescribed procedure.

The disposal of conveyances seized in NDPS cases forms part of a broader strategy aimed at ensuring effective management of seized property, preventing deterioration and loss of value of such assets during judicial proceedings and denying offenders the continued benefit of conveyances used in narcotics-related offences.

The process also ensures that seized assets are dealt with strictly in accordance with the provisions of law and the orders of competent courts.

Police remains committed to targeting every component of the narcotics ecosystem, including the logistical infrastructure used for drug trafficking and will continue to take firm action under law against those involved in the drug trade.

The action forms part of the ongoing efforts being undertaken under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to build a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
