The hope is that these businesses at the local tourism level, with improved accessibility and Increased tourists to venues both popular as well as some formerly under-utilized, will see a significant increase in visitors by 2026.
The entire hospitality industry in Kashmir is booming with an unprecedented level of activity at this time of year and is a signal of the beginnings of a new era of tourism growth in Kashmir.
All local transport companies and hotel and shikara operators are reporting high occupancies as the catalyst for the explosion of activity in the tourism sector.
The growth of tourism has been driven by an overwhelming number of changes and enhancements that have occurred in the tourism market.
There have been remarkable advancements to the transport infrastructure within Kashmir that now create significant opportunities to get to the valley.
The improved connectivity along the National Highway Jammu-Srinagar as well as significantly improved and expanded rail services (the new Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express) have drastically reduced the time necessary to travel into Kashmir, providing new opportunities for the wide range of interested travelers to visit.
The number of visitors from around the world who visit Kashmir each year is a major indicator of how tourism has been affected by changing consumer demands and behaviours. The past twelve months have witnessed a significant increase in tourism to the region, not only as a result of traditional tourist hotspots that have always been associated with Kashmiri tourism, but also as a result of additional non-traditional tourist spots.

Kashmir has been declared as an exquisite travel destination throughout the summer months leading to an increase in total visits from travellers, greater availability of accommodation, a more significant number of goods and services available to customers, and an abundance of welcoming environments created by many of the shops and businesses that welcome visitors.
The next few months will likely result in a major increase compared to previous year’s averages of tourist numbers, thus confirming Kashmir as a premier travelling destination in the world.
