PM Modi hails 11 years of Mudra Yojana

New Delhi, Apr 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday highlighted the impact of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) as the flagship microcredit programme completed 11 years, saying it has expanded access to finance and boosted entrepreneurship across the country.

In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister said the scheme has “redefined access to credit” by enabling millions to pursue their aspirations and start small businesses.

He noted that the initiative has helped remove traditional barriers to financing and strengthened the spirit of enterprise nationwide.

PM Modi emphasised that the scheme has had a significant impact on youth and women, describing it as instrumental in empowering “Yuva Shakti” and “Nari Shakti.” He added that PMMY reflects an economic approach where opportunities are more accessible and entrepreneurial initiatives are actively encouraged.

Launched in 2015, the Mudra Yojana provides collateral-free loans to non-corporate, non-farm small and micro enterprises, aiming to promote self-employment and grassroots entrepreneurship.
