Following March 1st, with excitement building over a direct train from Jammu to Srinagar, a new chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir will begin as that finally completed, long-awaited railway project will become a reality.
The arduous task of travelling to/from Jammu and the Kashmir Valley for many years has been a challenge to one’s endurance level, as well.
Historically, travellers going from Jammu/Srinagar over the much-used Mughal Road or via the historically distinguished Jammu to Kashmir Highway have experienced many moments of uncertainty brought on by traffic congestion and adverse weather conditions such as landslides. It was not uncommon for the length of time required for the trip between these two cities to take anywhere from a day and a half to over twelve hours.
The new railway service between Jammu and Srinagar represents more than just another mode of transportation; it represents a new means of saving lives as various forms of transport – both land and air – prior to the advent of this newly built rail service have taken far too long for people/animals needing immediate medical attention to access and reach their intended destinations before dying due to lack of prompt medical treatment.
As a result of this reduction will significantly affect the quality of life for any individual, be it a patient or a student or simply an everyday person either living or working at either end of the rail route.
The ability for the residents of both Jammu and Kashmir have suffered through their respective countries’ isolation physically and emotionally; thus, the gain toward this goal of connectivity through advancing public transportation options represents a major milestone in bringing total connectivity to this historically disconnected region.
The laying down of new railway structures will connect further down the track than ever before. This means that it will allow for greater connectivity, not just amongst all the rail operators, but also to the rest of the country.
The new train will create an avenue tmove products re easily move products around the area which will reduce the cost of perishable and necessary goods and therefore adds stability to the market.
The train also adds a new point of entry to our area for tourism purposes. This allows visitors to enjoy the scenery and beauty of the landscape without the worry of a long drive.
This enhancement to the area goes beyond transportation and commercial activity.
The engineering feat of building bridges and tunnels that cross over mountains exemplifies what can happen when you combine a dream and a lot of hard work.
The new train line will continue to provide an example of economic and social growth and stability for an area that has been devastated by their geographic situation and for that reason we can hope to experience change.
