Leh: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to building a self-reliant and economically empowered Ladakh through inclusive growth and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at a Loan Distribution Ceremony organized by SIDCO at Agling, Leh, the Lt Governor said that “economic empowerment is the key to self-reliance,” emphasizing active participation of women, youth, and artisans in Ladakh’s progress.
He informed that over 13,600 MSME units have been established, generating employment for more than 50,000 people, while 147 industrial units are operational across the region.
Highlighting SIDCO’s initiatives, Gupta lauded schemes like the Virasat Scheme for artisans, Adivasi Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojana for tribal women, and educational loans for students. He noted that 89 beneficiaries in Leh and 48 in Kargil have been approved for loans worth ₹16.17 crore.
Urging youth to become job creators, the Lt Governor said, “Each beneficiary must treat this loan as a responsibility to fulfill their dreams and contribute to Ladakh’s progress.” (KINS)
