Modern tools transforming women’s healthcare: Sakeena

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 31: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo Friday inaugurated two-day National Conference-cum-Workshop “Kashmir Endogyn 2025” at Government Medical College (GMC) here.

The Conference is being organized by the Postgraduate Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Addressing the distinguished gathering of healthcare professionals, medical students, and policymakers, the Minister highlighted the importance of and commended GMC Srinagar for advancing women’s wellness through education, research, and clinical care. She emphasized that women’s health must be seen as a societal priority, not just a sectoral concern. “Empowering women through better healthcare access and education strengthens families, communities, and the nation at large,” Health Minister stated.

In his address, Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah appreciated the department for creating a strong academic platform that blends evidence-based medicine with practical training.

The Minister on the occasion also felicitated Dr. Bilques Jameela and Dr. Shahida Mir, both former Heads of the department for their service to women’s health and medical education.
