Ensure genuine applicants are benefitted under PMAY-U 2.0

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 21: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo on Thursday chaired a meeting of Revenue and SMC officers here at Meeting Hall of the DC Office to review the progress and achievements made in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U 2.0) in the district.

At the outset, DC called the officers to ensure swift and transparent processing of cases for selection of beneficiaries under the scheme. He emphasized the need for maintaining transparency and accuracy in beneficiary selection to ensure all genuine applicants are benefitted under PMAY-U 2.0 in the district.

DC instructed the Revenue and SMC officers to expedite the verification process at their respective levels swiftly in line with scheme guidelines to meet the scheme objectives.

Earlier, the meeting was apprised that about 3000 applications have been received on Unified Web Portal of PMAY-U 2.0 in the district and are at different stages of processing.

The meeting was among others attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Rifat Aftab Qureshi; Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar; Joint Commissioner SMC, Nuzhat Khurshid; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, DSEO, LDM (Banks), all Tehsildars, SMC Ward officers, and officers from J&K Housing Board.

In order to review and strengthen ongoing measures to combat drug abuse, its trafficking and ensure effective rehabilitation of drug victims in the district, a meeting of District Level Committee on Narco Coordination Centre(NCORD) was also held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo here at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Chakravarthy was also present in the meeting. At the outset, the meeting deliberated on key issues, including strengthening enforcement measures against drug peddlers and its trafficking, crackdown on identified hotspots of drug addiction, intensified anti-drug awareness campaigns, and enhanced treatment and rehabilitation facilities for people affected by substance abuse.

DC took a firsthand appraisal from officers of all line departments and other stakeholders regarding the progress achieved in ongoing fight against the drug menace in order to curb it and tighten the noose against drug peddlers.

On the occasion, DC emphasized for intensifying sustained IEC campaigns across the district to sensitize masses particularly youth about detrimental and harmful effects of drug abuse. He also laid stress on strengthening Addiction Treatment Facilities (ATFs) at SMHS, SKIMS Bemina and other rehabilitation centres to ensure better treatment facilities and proper rehabilitation of drug victims.

He stressed on intensifying deterrence measures and effective rehabilitation of victims of substance abuse. He also laid emphasis on strengthening surveillance and intelligence-sharing mechanisms to crack down on drug supply networks. The other stakeholder departments were also instructed to intensify the anti-drug campaign to make Srinagar a drug free district.
