Print media has always played an effective role in developmental works, followed by electronic media — and now social media. Social media has a significant role in today’s world, but unfortunately this platform is running without limits. Many people still do not know how to use it responsibly. Therefore, it must come under law, and stringent action should be taken against those who misuse it to spread false information, abusive content, and disturb the peace of society.
Every human being should first be civilized and have the basic knowledge of how to communicate thoughts with others in an impressive and respectful way. The world today is heading towards other planets, where there is no component that supports life — no water, air, fertile land, or suitable temperature. Human beings believe that nothing is impossible. Even when we are assigned simple tasks, our people encourage us by saying, “This is not rocket science, you can do it!”
We encourage our youth – regardless of age or gender – to take part in development. In our country, every individual can contribute at any level, in any field. The sky is the limit. There are people who relentlessly strive to turn the impossible into possible for the upliftment of the nation and humanity at large. Great minds never limit themselves; they think beyond their own kith and kin, and work for the welfare of all. Development is certain for any nation whose citizens take responsibility to stay informed and contribute.
Today, I want to share my opinion on why social media platforms are promoting what they should not be promoting. The world has immense goals and visions for innovation and inventions, aiming to benefit humanity. Every individual must become part of this journey — stay updated and encourage those who devote themselves to nation-building. At the same time, it is painful that many educated youth are sitting idle, blaming the system and spoiling the nation’s dignity.
An intelligent person is not one who scores 100 out of 100, but one who becomes a ray of hope for thousands. Intelligent people always find a way to support the hopeless and struggling. On social media, people are ready to do anything foolish just for likes, views, or to go viral. They use abusive language, promote senseless trends and waste precious time. When we, as humans, have goals like making Mars habitable, we must be vigilant, smart, and hopeful. Our body language, thoughts, and actions must be graceful and meaningful.
Kashmir is known as “Resh Waer,” the valley of Sufi saints. These saints spread the message of peace, brotherhood, and humanity taught by Prophet Muhammad (SAW). But unfortunately, some people are now spoiling the sweetness of our language by using abusive words on social media and sharing them proudly.
Social media, if used properly, is a powerful platform. In earlier times, people with talent in poetry, singing, drawing, mimicry, etc., did not get a platform to showcase their abilities, but today everyone has an opportunity to create a channel or account and present their thoughts and talents for the benefit of humanity. Every account holder must feel responsible and condemn senseless content. We should stop sharing videos and posts that contain vulgar language or stupidity, and instead promote positive, educational, and uplifting material.
