Agniveer killed in landmine blast, LG pays tribute

Poonch, July 25: In a landmine explosion, near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday, an Indian Army Agniveer lost his life while two other soldiers, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), sustained injuries in a landmine explosion.
According to official sources, the blast occurred near Victor Post in the Salotri village of Haveli tehsil during a routine patrol when a landmine, part of the area’s anti-infiltration defenses, was accidentally triggered.
The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The condition of both injured soldiers is reported to be stable.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the blast, while the Army has paid rich tributes to the slain soldier who has been identified as Lalit Kumar.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to Agniveer Lalit Kumar of 7 JAT Regiment, who laid down his life in the line of duty.
“I pay my heartfelt tributes to Agniveer Lalit Kumar, who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. The nation stands firmly with them, in this hour of grief,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
