Turning dreams into reality

With the ongoing marriage assistance scheme in J&K, the concerned authorities are lending a helping hand to many of the girls who have reached the age of getting married but belongs to the underprivileged class.

Many underprivileged girls from all walks of classes can register and avail the benefits of this scheme wherein they can settle into marital bliss and find their happily ever after.

Earlier the social welfare department was providing financial assistance of Rs 50,000 but in a major sigh of relief for a huge number of parents and girl Childs alike when the administration under its public outreach program enhanced the assistance benefit amount from 50000 to 75000.

This was one of the most welcoming steps taken by social welfare department of J&K on the directions of Chief Minister.

Not only was the financial assistance amount increased but the process for applying was made easy too by digitalizing the process.

Though the directives from the administration to the social welfare department not to make this process difficult for any applicant were clear, but so far the kind of response and the steps that needed to be followed are making it bothersome for some of the underprivileged girls who are availing the benefits of the scheme.

It was the for the very first time that the administration has decided to offer the amount through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in order to avoid the deviation or misuse of the financial assistance amount.

Although the marriage assistance scheme majorly is being praised well but the underprivileged girls looking to avail the facility are being asked to provide a marks certificate which is making it impossible for them to avail this facility as most of these girls are uneducated.

Keeping in view the current inflation and market trends the government must consider of increasing the amount to tackle the major obstacle for these underprivileged girls.

The academic certificate initiative was a positive point if made mandatory for these girl children to enroll and get free education of at least Upto secondary level.
