The School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir should be recognized for offering remedial teaching during the summer holidays, timely, to the schools who received a mirror reflection of their JKBOSE Class 10th and 12th examination results.
These are obvious examples of the department caring for heritage sites, but ensuring students are equipped and prepared for the biannual examinations ahead.
Education is the foundation of good society, arguably academic help will never belong to a normal day type of experiences.
Students that attend underperforming schools are much more likely to fall behind to students that have high contact with a teacher, schools that can meet the proper funding allocation to give one-on-one attention which require basic knowledge and skills for their future schooling.
Remedial, as proposed two weeks into summer holidays, for instance, is concrete ways for the students to appreciate difficult or different concepts that they have not previously understood well from school lessons and to also form a grasp and affect their overall success, of these issues.
However, if the above is taken as true, it is evident that the action of JKBOSE in re-structuring and supplying biannual exams was a reform initiated for the student and a second chance to, demonstrate themselves.
For full effect, this system needs to have continual educational support behind it. It appears that remedial classes not only assist students with losing ground, but it helps give students some confidence to do better on the next try.
Think of this project in the context of education’s philosophical lens with an emphasis on equity and inclusion. By purposely delivering positive outcomes in schools with unmerited privilege, the department aims to provide systemic options to reduce educational inequities so that no student is lost.
Teachers can also try out new and different and pedagogies meant for struggling learners, and, in the end, promote the education potential for all students.
While some may insist not to alter summer breaks, the short term negatives of this intervention outweigh the positives. And today, a strong basis will allow for the child to have the opportunity for a better profession, and facilitate the socio-economic growth of the area.
The accomplishments of the School Education Department are in keeping with a unique set of experiences–everyone needs to take equal share of the kudos and support.
