Absconding HC nabbed

Jammu, June 21: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Head Constable Roshan Din of Police Station Kathua, who had been absconding in a bribery case registered earlier this year.
ACB in a statement said that the case pertains to FIR No. 12/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, lodged at ACB Police Station Jammu. The Head Constable was accused of demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from a complainant in exchange for removing his name from the list of accused in an FIR (No. 193/2025) registered at Police Station Kathua.
According to the complainant, despite providing CCTV footage and factory attendance records to establish his innocence, Roshan Din demanded a bribe to facilitate his removal from the FIR.
However, during a trap laid by the ACB, the accused sensed the presence of the team and fled from the spot, discarding the tainted bribe money in nearby bushes along the National Highway near Palli. The bribe money was later recovered and seized by independent witnesses on the scene.
After evading arrest for some time, Roshan Din was finally apprehended by the ACB on June 20, 2025. He has been taken into custody, and further investigation into the case is currently underway. (KINS)
