Jammu, June 10: In a bid to enhance local preparedness and strengthen the border security grid, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday organized a specialized training programme for Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a BSF official, the training focused on improving weapon handling skills, situational awareness, and response strategies to potential security threats. “The aim is to empower VDGs with the necessary skills to assist in safeguarding their villages along the International Border,” the official said.
As part of the ongoing initiative, similar training sessions were conducted on Monday in the Arnia and Gadkhal areas of the Jammu sector. Civilian volunteers, who form the backbone of the VDG units, were trained in firearms use, self-defence, and basic surveillance techniques. (KINS)
