As part of Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025, the Agriculture Department is taking steps for wholesale transformation of agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir.
Therefore, the initiative is more than a scheme of the government; it is a movement on the part of farmers, to bring together traditional farming with modern approaches to agriculture.
The department is planting the seeds of awareness, conversation about changing technologies, and awareness of schemes that will benefit farmers toward the goal of self-sufficiency and prosperity to the farming community.
As agriculture is the backbone of the Jammu & Kashmir economy, the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan empowers farmers with new-age knowledge.
Through interactive and hands-on growing experiences and workshops led and facilitated by experts, farmers will learn about high yielding varieties, precision farming approaches, water-efficient irrigation techniques, and biopesticides for pest management.
These supports will safely ensure that farmers are not disadvantaged in the technological age of precision agriculture that dominates discussions for increasing productivity and profitability from agriculture.
An equally important part of these components of the campaign is to educate farmers about state and central agricultural schemes.
Regrettably, many farmers have not been apprised of the available funding.
The beauty in this initiative is in the participatory mechanism employed whereby farmers are not just passive recipients but also taking an active role in discussions to relay the experience and issues.
This two-way engagement then allows policy-makers to shape solutions based on real issues to further develop resilience and market: orientation in an agricultural system.
What this sort of collective intervention achieved is a unification of purpose amongst farmers to foster their inclination for cooperative farming or collective bargaining power.
Moreover such programs not only boosts the farmers but also provide them a knowledge about upgrading themselves with the advanced farming. The concerned authorities must conduct and organize more and more events for all those who have been exposed to the advanced farming.
