2 encounters underway in Jammu region

Jammu: The joint forces and militants exchanged fire in two areas of Jammu division on Wednesday.
The first encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Jopher village, falling under the jurisdiction of Ramnagar police station in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district.
According to officials, the gunfight began after a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces launched a search operation in the area. Contact with the militants was established during the operation, triggering an exchange of fire.
The operation is currently in progress, with intermittent firing reported from the encounter site.
Reports said that an exchange of fire between militants and security forces also took place in Chatroo area of Kishtwar. The area was cordoned off after the firing incident and a search operation was launched to track down the militants. (KNT)
