Srinagar: Police in Sopore on Friday said to have recovered consignment of illicit timber from village Laiser Rafiabad in the jurisdiction of Police Station Dangiwacha.
Acting on specific information regarding illicit timber consignment and accordingly, a police party of Police Station Dangiwacha and Police Post Watergam alongwith officials of forest department, conducted raids at the specific location, a police spokesman said.
During the raid, a police party recovered a total of 12.59 Square feet of illicit timber from the spot. The accused involved in the crime has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Sadiq Rather resident of Laiser Rafiabad, police said.
Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 14/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigation is underway.
