JAMMU: Minister for Transport, FCS & CA, Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology, Science and Technology, ARI & Trainings, Satish Sharma, Tuesday inaugurated the recovery vehicle of State Motor Garages at SMG office.
Director SMG, Tahir Malik along with other senior officials and staff members were present on the occasion.
After inaugurating the recovery vehicle, the Minister conducted a round of the office premises and inspected facilities like washing, servicing, tuning and repairing of vehicles.
The Minister also interacted with the staff members and drivers of SMG and enquired about their issues and grievances.
The Minister was apprised that the recovery vehicle would play a pivotal role as it could be used as towing vehicle and also will help in transporting damaged vehicles from one place to another.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister congratulated the SMG for taking initiatives towards further strengthening the department’s functioning. He asserted that this recovery vehicle will be proved as an asset for the department being a revenue generating utility.
He suggested the department rent out the vehicle to the general public for towing and transferring their damaged vehicle from one place to another as private players charge a heavy amount for the purpose.
He reiterated that the government is committed to the welfare of the employees, especially driver fraternity and will leave no stone unturned to redress their genuine demands and issues.
