Reviews progress under NCA program
SRINAGAR: The Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Dr.Owais Ahmed Saturday conducted a thorough review of the capital expenditure (Capex) associated with the City Drainage Circle SMC.
The meeting was part of a broader strategy to improve the city’s drainage infrastructure.
Commissioner SMC emphasized the importance of completion of ongoing projects within the stipulated timelines while upholding the highest standards of quality.
He urged the Drainage Circle to rule out a detailed assessment of ongoing projects and address any challenges that may be hindering progress.
Dr. Owais highlighted the role that a robust drainage system plays in preventing urban flooding and protecting public health. He underscored the need for enhanced cooperation among various departments to ensure seamless execution and to make optimal use of available resources.
The review reflects SMC’s commitment to foster a sustainable urban environment to ensure that the drainage infrastructure meets the growing demands of the city. By prioritizing timely project completion and quality management, the SMC aims to create a more resilient Srinagar capable of effectively managing Storm Water.
The meeting was attended by the Engineering wing of City Drainage Circle, SMC.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner chaired a detailed review meeting here to assess the progress of projects under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP).
During the meeting, Dr. Owais conducted a thorough review of all NCAP projects undertaken during the FY 2023-2024, alongside other related initiatives. Commissioner SMC also finalized the action plan for the FY 2024-2025. Stressing the importance of the clean air initiative, Dr. Owais called for a heightened pace of work and issued clear directives for accelerating the implementation of NCAP projects.
