Celebrations at Gupkar following NC’s landslide Assembly election victory

Srinagar: Jubilant scenes unfolded at Dr Farooq Abdullah’s Gupkar residence on Wednesday and continued on Thursday as National Conference (NC) supporters and workers thronged the premises in celebration, following the party’s landslide win in the assembly elections.
The gates of the residence were wide open, welcoming a steady stream of people who carried sweets, flowers and renewed hopes for what could be the return of an NC-led government.
The celebration, which began after the NC’s big win in the assembly elections, soon transformed Gupkar home of the NC into a place of festivity and unity.
Workers and supporters, young and old, poured in from various parts of the valley, all eager to catch a glimpse of their leader and share in the party’s achievement.
Bashir Ahmad, a long-time party worker, speaking to KNO said, “We waited a long time for this moment. It feels like a fresh start for Kashmir under the leadership of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.
With eyes brimming with emotion, Bashir said NC is “not just a party but a movement for the people of Kashmir”. These celebrations, he said, are a “sign that we are heading toward a brighter future”.
Another worker, Nayeem Ahmad, who travelled all the way from Kulgam to meet his leader, said they believe Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah can lead them out of the “challenges” faced over the years. “This is not just about politics, but about trust. The people have spoken,” he said.
Similarly, amidst the celebrations, a specially-abled supporter of the NC also made his way to Gupkar, capturing the hearts of everyone present.
Despite personal hardships, he arrived to show solidarity with the party he has stood by for years. “This is my family,” the specially-abled supporter said, adding, “I came because this victory is ours. It belongs to every single one of us who believes in a better Kashmir.”
Meanwhile, the residence has come alive over the last two days, as a huge rush of workers and supporters adorned with flowers echoed with cheers and prayers while party workers exchanged sweets.
“This is just the beginning,” said Tariq Lone, another NC worker. “We are confident that the NC will form the government and take decisions that are truly for the welfare of the people. The coming days will mark a new chapter in our history.”—(KNO)
