Home voting records 195 votes on day-1 in Kulgam

KULGAM, SEPTEMBER 11: Utilizing the home voting facility extended by Election Commission of India for inclusive elections, the Senior Citizens (85+)  and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) belonging to all three constituencies of District Kulgam today exercised their franchise from the four walls of their homes.

In order to facilitate the elderly and PwD voters, throughout the day the polling teams braved treacherous and steep terrains to reach eligible voters in high-altitude areas.

A total of 195 votes were recorded on day 1st from across all three constituencies of Kulgam District.

The voters who had availed the home voting facility expressed immense gratitude to the ECI for being able to cast their vote without any inconvenience while being at home.

A PwD voter from hilly hamlet Hallen, a voter of AC 38-D.H.Pora  shared his joy and appreciation when a polling party visited his home today.

He expressed his overwhelming gratitude for being given the opportunity to cast his vote despite the challenging geography and his inability to reach the polling station on poll day.

Similarly, voters from Devsar, Kulgam, Kund and other areas were delighted to see polling teams arrive at their homes, enabling them to participate in the democratic process without any hardship.

“Haleema Begum from AC 40-Devsar Kulgam, appreciated the Home Voting facility. She shared that it empowered her to exercise her right to vote comfortably.

To ensure smooth polling, special measures were taken to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the voting process during home voting. The message was loud and clear that every vote counts and inclusive participation is the real meaning of democracy.

Girl killed in leopard attack

Srinagar, Sep 11: A 4-year-old minor girl was killed in leopord attack in Gulshanpora area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Quoting officials the news agency GNS reported that a girl was attacked and taken away by leopard when she was outside her home in Gulshanpora area.

The girl was found dead from nearby area after a team of police and locals who had started searches for the missing minor girl.

She has been identified as Riyan (4), daughter of Arshid Ahmad Bhat, resident of Gulshanpora Tral.

Meanwhile, people have urged wild life department to nab the fleeing leopard as it posses threat to the human life in the area.
