New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will be the Chief Guest at the 54th Foundation Day celebration of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Amit Shah, BPR&D aims to transform the Indian Police Forces into SMART forces, addressing policing and internal security challenges through enhanced intellectual, physical, and organizational resources.
Since its establishment in 1970, BPR&D has served as a think tank for Indian policing, focusing on research and development to improve policies and procedures for police and correctional services. The institute also explores new technologies for better service delivery, capacity building of law enforcement agencies, and promotes coordination between state and central police organizations.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director General of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), heads of central police organizations, and senior officials from the Home Ministry and other departments.
