Srinagar: The Vajr Division of Chinar Corps Monday marked International Women’s Day with a celebratory event held at Government Degree College, Kupwara, honoring the remarkable achievements of women and recognizing young female achievers in the region.
Over 250 girls and women from diverse age groups participated in an interactive forum with esteemed panelists to discuss growth, empowerment, and the positive impact of women in society.
Aligned with the United Nations theme for the year, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,’ the event aimed to emphasize the significance of investing in women for societal advancement. Evocative slogans such as “Inspiring Inclusion,” “Strength of Nation,” and “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” resonated throughout the day.
The Chief Guest underscored the pivotal role of women in maintaining societal equilibrium and lauded their burgeoning success across various domains.
She emphasized that such strides are crucial for propelling Kupwara and the entire Kashmir region toward a future filled with glory.
Additionally, she commended the women of Kupwara for their pioneering spirit and called upon the community to commit to women’s empowerment, ensuring they receive equitable opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the growth and prosperity of Kashmir and the nation.
The panelists, including Colonel Pooja Chauhan, Divya D IPS SP Sopore, acclaimed actress Mateena Rajput, and Refat Wani, shared their inspiring personal stories of overcoming challenges and seizing opportunities in fields like sports, entertainment, social welfare, and defense, aiming to motivate and inspire the young women of Kupwara.
Several achievers, including Fareeda Bano, Aliya Azmat, Saleeqa Tariq, and Pakeeza Qureshi, were felicitated for their notable contributions in their respective fields.
This initiative by the Indian Army not only commemorates the achievements of women but also serves as a catalyst for continued investment in their empowerment.
