Over 700 drug peddlers arrested in last one year
Srinagar: The police in Baramulla today said that 264 NDPS cases have been registered in the district in the year 2023 while as 75 drug peddlers were booked under PIT NDPS Act/ PSA while as 212 cases have been registered in Kulgam with 265 arrests.
In a hand-out issued in this regard, police said 264 were cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 464 drug peddlers which include 75 hard-core drug peddlers who have been booked under PIT NDPS Act/ PSA.
“The dedicated team of officers have displayed exceptional commitment and achieved significant milestones in enforcing the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act,” police said.
Further, properties of drug peddlers worth Rs 03 crores, comprising three houses, three vehicles and cash amounting to Rs 1.2 Crores has also been attached by the police.
Moreover, Police destroys huge quantity of seized contraband substances worth 34 crores under section 25A of NDPS Act of various cases of Police Stations across Baramulla District at Kashmir Health Care System IGC LassiporaPulwama.
In Kulgam, police said, 212 cases were registered with 265 drug pedlars arrested and 10 drug peddlers have been booked under PIT NDPS Act/ PSA.
“Police in Kulgam have recovered 1156 Kgs of Poppy Straw, 375.7 Kgs of Cannabis, 14.7Kgs of Charas, 37.2 Kgs of Ghanja, 224 gram of Brown Sugar, 291 grams of Heroin, 309 Bottles of Codeine, 330 Alprazom Tablets, 320 SpasmoProxyvon Capsule, 18 Strips of Clonazepam and 07 Strips of Tramadol,” police said.
Moreover, 212 NDPS cases were registered, 265 drug pedlars were arrested, 10 drug peddlers have been booked under PIT NDPS Act/ PSA in year 2023, police said.
Citizens, police said, have shown utmost faith and satisfaction in the action of police against drugs and they have expressed their total support to the police.
“General People of the district are requested to come forward with the information of drug peddling in their areas or Dial 112 in order to support police to eradicate menace of drugs from the society,” police said.
