Under AKAM, SMC carries out cleanliness drive in 2 wards

Srinagar: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) carried out a comprehensive cleanliness drive on Sunday, as part of the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiative.

The initiative targeted Zone West Ward No. 18, specifically Safakadal Via Gassi Mohalla Malik Sahab Flood Channel up to Cement Kadal Bridge, and Zone South Ward No. 29, focusing on Rambagh Bund towards Alochibagh, with the primary goal of improving cleanliness and hygiene in these specific areas of the city.

The drive, spearheaded by the Chief Sanitation Officer, Zonal Sanitation Officer, and other dedicated SMC officials, was designed to elevate the overall cleanliness and visual appeal of the selected zones.

Key activities undertaken during the drive included the efficient collection and disposal of waste, alongside the clearance of unwanted vegetation and grass.

The Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s primary objective in organizing such initiatives is to cultivate a cleaner and healthier environment for the city’s residents, thereby contributing to the overall development and well-being of the area.

Through active participation in cleanliness drives, the SMC aims to instill a sense of civic responsibility among citizens and promote a sustainable and hygienic lifestyle.
