Jammu: The Government Higher Secondary School Khellani Doda School on Tuesday paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.
The Govt Higher Secondary School Khellani Doda under Incharge of Eco House Davinder Kumar, senior Lecturer Chemistry Govt Higher Secondary School Khellani Doda remembered the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
The ceremony began with the floral tribute by all the Staff Members of the Government Higher Secondary School Khellani followed by group Captain of all the four houses of the institution.
His method of non-violence inspired many civil rights movements across the world. To celebrate his contribution to the nation, October 2 is celebrated every year as a national holiday. The day is also celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence by the United Nations.
The NSS and Cultural Committee of School of Management of Khellani Higher Secondary School Khellani Doda under the leadership of Ved Kumar Kotwal, Sunil Kumar and Davinder Kumar Senior Lecturer Chemistry Govt HSS Khellani Doda organised a quiz contest on the theme “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan- Ek Kadam Swachhta Ki Aur” to create awareness among youth towards cleanliness and discipline.
The event saw an overwhelming response from the students from management. The posters made by students would be used to promote the cause of cleanliness in students in near future.
Senior Lecturer Zaffarulla Naik speaking on the eve of Ghandhi Jayanti said that for organising such events on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign is one of the biggest-ever drives to accelerate efforts towards achieving universal sanitation coverage, improving cleanliness and eliminating open defecation in India.
He also said the main objective of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is to aware the citizens about cleanliness in the nearby surroundings and the spread of filth and infectious parasites.
Principal of Govt Higher Secondary School Khellani Doda Sachla Kumari presented vote of thanks and congratulated the coordinators and students and added that the campaign primarily focuses on eradicating the unhealthy practices of open defecation and provide basic sanitation facilities.
The winners in the making competition were Shavini got first position, Arti got the second position, Neha and Anjali got the third position and they were judges by the three Judge namely Ajay Rana, Foizya and Rajni Manhas Lecturer Hindi Govt Higher Secondary School Khellani Doda and the result was compiled by Parveen Bhagat Lecturer Political Science Govt Higher Secondary School Khellani Doda.
