NYK Bla organize Jal Samvad, Jal Copal awareness prog

Baramulla: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Baramulla Kashmir with the support of National Water Mission’s (NWM) & Mirgund Youth Club on Monday successfully organized Jal Samvad, Jal Copal with the tagline ‘catch the rain where it falls’.

The aim of the project was to nudge the states and stake holders to create appropriate Rain Water Harvesting Structure (RWHS) suitable to the climate conditions and sub soil strata before monsoon.

Under this campaign drives to make check dams water harvesting pits, rooftop RWHS removal of encroachments and desilting of tanks to increase their storage capacity removal of obstructions in the channels which bring water to them from the catchment areas repairs to step wells and using defunct to bore wells unused wells to put water back to aquifers etc. were taken up with the active participation of people and particularly the youth.

A launching function for catch the rain when it falls where it falls was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Baramulla & Jal Shakti Department at Ichgam.

JE Water Works Shabir Ahmad Ganie, Mohammad Rafiq Sofi, Hafeeza and Ishfaq Hussain Field Supervisor of Jal Shakti were present on the occasion.

All the dignitaries elaborated the importance of water in the life.

At least 104 participants from different youth clubs of Nehru Yuva Kendra Baramulla participated in the program and an oath was taken by all the participants to save the water and catch the rain when it falls where it falls.
