KCCI appeals J&K Bank to announce OTS scheme

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) President, Javid Ahmed Tenga appealed Jammu & Kashmir Bank MD/CEO Baldev Prakash to announce OTS scheme at the earliest.

KCCI hoped that the OTS Scheme will be in line with what had been discussed and agreed upon in its meeting with him in the recent past.

The KCCI is concerned over the inordinate delay in Bank’s OTS Scheme announcement making the borrowers paranoid. The KCCI president had assured the bank that it will play the role of a bridge between the bank and the borrowers.

In that context, a large number of borrowers have been meeting KCCI office bearers and showing their willingness of availing of the new OTS Scheme for which funds have been arranged.

The KCCI reminds the Bank Management about the role of local people in taking the bank where it is today, saying that now it is J&K Bank’s turn to rise to the occasion to help out the borrowers, who had turned defaulters as a result of the consequences of 2014 devastating floods, the turmoil of 2016 and Covid pandemic in the following years over which they had no control whatsoever.

“It will also be worthwhile to note that out of total J&K Bank’s NPA accounts the ratio of such accounts in the union territories of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh is very low which proves the loan repayment culture of the local borrowers. The KCCI found J&K Bank MD/CEO very positive during its meetings with him,” the statement said.

KCCI opined that announcement of OTS scheme is suggested in terms of time and amount will prove beneficial both for the bank and borrowers.
