Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Budgam organised an awareness programme on “Prevention of Drug Addiction” at Higher Secondary School Wathoora.
The main aim of the event was to educate students about the dangers of drug addiction besides, to provide resources for those struggling with substance abuse, a police spokesman said.
The event began with a presentation about the effects of drug addiction on both individuals and society as a whole. Students were shown statistics on the negative impact of drugs on their physical health, mental well-being, relationships, and professional opportunities.
After the presentation, students were invited to participate in breakout sessions where they could ask questions and learn more about the specific challenges of addiction. These small-group discussions were facilitated by trained counsellors, providing students with a safe and confidential space to share their experiences.
Throughout the event, students were encouraged to take advantage of the resources available to them. These included hotline numbers, counselling services, and support groups for both individuals struggling with addiction and their loved ones.
On the occasion, students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn more about addiction and seek help if needed. Organizers hoped that this event will promote awareness of the importance of drug-free lifestyles and encourage students to make positive choices regarding their health and well-being.
