During the past three years J&K Government has taken many steps to promote agriculture in the Union Territory.
Various centrally sponsored schemes meant for the welfare of farmers have helped them increase their yield and productivity.
Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh on Wednesday inaugurated a 3-day Kashmir Expo Start-up for livelihood event. He highlighted the huge potential of J&K becoming the hub of agri-tech startups and technology adding value to the products from the region with its immense biodiversity.
Agriculture has always remained a mainstay of J&K’s economy and the technological interventions have added new dimensions to it.
J&K’s startup policy has been focusing on encouraging the youngsters to enhance their skills in all the sectors, including agriculture.
Innovations and technology have led to youngsters coming forward with new ideas and concepts. This has led to the agriculture industry getting a boost.
The self-employment schemes introduced by the government have helped the youngsters to start new projects and set up the units which have made them self-reliant. Youth are being provided loans and subsidies so that they don’t fall short of finances.
Since the launch of the Startup India initiative by the Prime Minister on 16th January 2016, the Indian ecosystem has grown to become the 3rd largest in the world. The 30 States and UTs with their own dedicated startup policies are taking the country to new heights.
Science and technology-based entrepreneurship is taking on a bigger role in India’s innovation landscape as a result of the country’s increased emphasis on startup policies, the growth of its innovation ecosystem, and the rising willingness among scientists and engineers to explore this route.
Steps being taken by the country towards enhancing the technology have infused new life in the agriculture sector across the country.
The Centre has been ensuring that J&K develops like other regions and becomes self reliant. Awareness is being created among the farmers about how they can utilize their agricultural land in a better way. The main aim is to enhance the income of farmers. They are being provided with all the possible help and assistance. The pace at which the agriculture sector is being developed is encouraging the people to go back to their fields and revive this important sector, which could prove to be of great help for the future generations.
