Srinagar: Geology and mining authorities have described the reports about haphazard mining in Doodganga Nallah in district Budgam as baseless and unjustified.
In a statement issued to Precious Kashmir , mineral officer , Geology and mining department , Srinagar said that he along with the assistant executive engineer flood control inspected the e-auuctioned blocks of Doodganga Nalla Budgam. During the visit , the statement said, it was found that the extraction of minerals was being carried out in accordance with terms and conditions as laid in approved mining plan and CTO issued by PCB. The depth of the extraction, the statement said , is limited upto permitted level of 1m and no haphazard mining is being carried.
Offtake points of irrigation canals were also inspected and found in normal position.
The officials , statement said, also inspected embankments of the nalla and we’re found intact without being damaged by mining operations in mineral blocks. In view of the on spot observations , the allegations of haphazard mining , officials said, appear to be baseless.
