Srinagar, Feb 01: Mehraj-ud-din Wani, a senior journalist and Editor-in-Chief of the Srinagar News, passed away here on Tuesday after a brief illness. He was 72.
Wani was admitted to the Chest Disease Hospital here after developing complications in the chest. “He breathed his last in the hospital,” his son Iqbal Wani said.
Wani was associated with the journalism and was the publisher of the newspaper for 49 long years.
A resident of Rainawari in Srinagar, Wani was the owner and publisher of the bi-lingual Srinagar News.
He will be laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Khaskhash Bagh Rainawari.
The journalist fraternity in the Kashmir Valley expressed grief over the demise of Wani and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.
