Jammu: Nearly one-month after taking over the reign of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull explored the only sports venue in the winter capital, Maulana Azad Stadium and advocated for making it a hub of activities in days to come.
Official sources in J&K Sports Council said Nuzhad on Friday had a round of the entire stadium and she inspected various sports halls of different disciplines vis-a-vis under construction projects.
They said that a proposal was also submitted to the Secretary for procurement of Judo Mats for the conduct of regular coaching classes smoothly, installation of Gym Equipments for the players to improve strength, speed and flexibility, extension of residential quarters to provide more accommodation facilities to the employees, establishment of coffee house to cater players and officials.
Sources said that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) was also sought from the concerned Engineering Wing for the construction of a separate convocation hall to facilitate its multifaceted activities, utilising park area in front of Indoor Sports Complex for conducting Yoga activities.
Nuzhat, however, emphasized that in days ahead, besides developmental activities, the Maulana Azad Stadium will be made as hub of sports activities and assured all help, cooperation from the Sports Council.
