Celebrating adventures horizon

Manasbal Lake is well known for being a peaceful place but the Wular-Manasbal Development Authority have been very enthusiastic to turn it into an Adventure Tourism site. This should be praised.

They have researched different activities including rock climbing, paragliding, zip lining and rope cycling.

In the past tourists only stayed for a short period of time.

By introducing exciting new activities the Authority are encouraging people to stay for longer. This is an innovative approach to increase our tourism industry.

Adventure Tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the Tourism Industry globally. With the dramatic landscape and natural geography of Kashmir we are sure to take advantage.

Manasbal will provide the perfect setting with dramatic cliffs and open skies and beautiful coastlines. It will also provide variety to the tourism industry and create jobs for qualified guides, equipment operators, hospitality and young entrepreneurs.

It will create jobs and the Authority have been very proactive to look into these activities showing they are committed to keeping things safe.

A group of mountain climbers have recently visited the area to see if it would be suitable for adventure tourism. The people seem very optimistic that rock climbing could be introduced on a trial basis from next tourism season. The authorities have also looked into paragliding, zip-lining and rope cycling.

The authority have undertaken dredging work on Manasbal Lake last year and have covered around 6.5 lakh square metres of the surrounding area with solid waste collection and disposal.

They are doing the adventure tourism carefully. Manasbal has always been a beautiful place to visit but with this initiative by the WMDA it can become a place of peace and excitement.

This is an amazing move for Manasbal and will definitely put it on the map as an Adventure Tourism hotspot. The people in Kashmir are looking forward to seeing this come to fruition.
