Towards educational excellence

The recent announcement by the Jammu and Kashmir government that the rules pertaining to the establishment of private universities in the UT are awaiting the approval of the concerned authority is truly heartening.

This timely initiative will definitely herald a new dawn in the field of education in the region.

For long, the students of J&K have been dependent upon the outside world for getting specialization in their chosen fields and for availing themselves of world-class professional education. With the setting up of private universities in the UT, a new era of education is set to dawn on the region.

This will provide the students with a wider choice and variety, and usher in a new era of professional education of international standards.

The fact that the rules for the private universities have been submitted to the concerned authority, which is expected to approve them at the earliest, is indeed a positive development.

The painstaking efforts of the government in this regard, too, deserve appreciation.

The rules are likely to be finalized soon.

It is only proper and logical that the UT administration takes up this task with a clear mind, with due caution and concern, and works out a suitable regulatory framework.

The rules should be such that they would provide a conducive environment in the private universities so that students are benefited and the quality of education is not compromised.

In fact, private universities will supplement the existing public universities.

These institutions would offer various courses in different disciplines, including modern specializations such as technical education and management studies.

These universities would also invite talent from all over the country and abroad.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the younger ones, have been looking forward to such a move for long.

We hope that all concerned, including the government, will give a fillip to the new dawn in education by working out the rules meticulously and taking necessary action expeditiously so that eligible private institutions can start operating at the earliest.

This is indeed a welcome move which would take the UT’s education scenario to greater heights and make it more progressive and prosperous.

The masses are confident that the concerned authority will approve the rules at the earliest.
