A healthier tomorrow

The latest data about the anti-drug campaign progress from the Jammu and Kashmir government, on which the grassroots level efforts made, can be described as heartwarming results indeed.

With 528 drug-awareness programmes conducted nationwide and 21 Addiction Treatment Facilities (ATF) opened in Kashmir and Jammu divisions, the administration is determined to tackle the issue of substance abuse and is well-equipped with resources to do that.

It is really impressive that the administration managed to achieve such positive results in both scopes: the amount of drug awareness programs covered and the number of treatment facilities opened in J&K.

With 528 initiatives, many of which probably include conversations with representatives of the youth, an enormous number of people were educated and helped to prevent a future addiction.

Moreover, with 21 treatment facilities available for those who need them in both of the J&K divisions, an extensive number of addicted people will receive high-quality help and support to overcome their problems.

It is also worth noting that ATFs were opened in both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions, ensuring accessibility to treatment facilities for everyone, regardless of where they live. After all, fighting something as harmful as drug addiction requires not dividing into smaller parts and competing with each other for resources.

It is necessary to cover all the population groups since every single person is important, and the administration did a great job by including prevention initiatives in the programs, providing communities with crucial knowledge about drug addiction.

Since prevention is better and, in some cases, the only real solution.

Ultimately, one may argue that providing treatment facilities requires a thorough and well-thought approach with competent professionals and continuous funding. However, the administration did take the necessary steps by initiating anti-drug campaigns and providing treatment for those who need it in both divisions.

For the families of the J&K region residents, these 528 programs and 21 treatment facilities signify hope that drug addiction in their area will be conquered once and for all.
